Tune it Up

This past week while googling away trying to find fun things to do in NYC for a decent price {meaning free really} I found out the NYC Philharmonic Orchestra {one of the best in the world I might add} was allowing the general public in for free on Wednesday to listen as they played during a dress rehearsal.

 Seeing as regular tickets cost a minimum $65.00 and a maximum of $225.00, I knew this was an opportunity I didn't want to miss! Robyn agreed to troop along with me even though it meant getting up and leaving wayyyy earlier than we normally do.

So that morning I woke up at 6 am and got ready
I kissed Eric goodbye as he was laying in bed still {there is a first for everything!}
We rode the subway into Manhattan around 7:15 am
Found the Lincoln Center and got in line
Waited and waited until they finally started handing out tickets at 8 am

Can you find me?! I kind of blend in!

Robyn and I. Isn't she the cutest?! She's an awesome exploring partner!

and guess what else???

For being one of the first 125 people in line I got a FREE IPOD SHUFFLE!!!!
Sweet huh?! Free tickets and a free Ipod shuffle. Doesn't get much better than that!

Listening to the Orchestra play was awesome. They were truly amazing. Sometime I regret giving up on the two musical instruments I once played during my lifetime {piano and flute thank you very much}. Eric does too. Which means our kids aren't allowed to give up on music. EVER.

Avery Music Hall. Beautiful in and of itself.

It was also neat to see the orchestra playing in regular clothes and not their performance "get-up". It made me realize they are all just ordinary people you pass on the streets everyday. You wouldn't know how incredibly talented unless you heard them play {hopefully that made sense. If not ignore me...I'm rambling.}

Let me give you a small taste of the performance. I also pre-apologize for the poor video. I wasn't suppose to take pictures or video so I was trying to be sneaking.

Good huh? Yeah I know. I was sitting there about 10 rows behind the front. Great seats. Great music. Great time!

Robyn and I also discovered a true gem while standing in line.

THE TEMPLE!

  We can't wait to go back with Eric and Jeff to do a session!
Overall...great adventure and totally worth the 6 am wake-up call!

This weekend we're headed to Princeton! Yeah for a smart brother and a beautiful campus to visit.

Love, The Smiths
