*My notes added
The supplies you will need include fabric in whatever color you would like, I would recommend using linen or cotton for the fabric, a hot glue gun, glue sticks, neutrally colored felt and a chain for the necklace
*I got everything at JoAnn fabrics.
Here is a 50% off Fabric Coupon and
Here is a 40% any item coupon and
Here is a 40% Michael's Coupon that you can use at JoAnn Fabrics on anything BUT fabric!
You can use all three of these coupons on the same one purchase. I promise. I did it.
My Mother has taught me well my friends!*
To begin, cut out a circle in the felt. If you want 5 flowers, cut out 5 circles. This will be what determines the size of the flower. If you want your flowers to be the same size mine were, you will want the circles to have a diameter of about 1.5 inches. You can always experiment with the size for bigger or smaller flowers, it just depends on what you want.
Now, take your fabric and cut small circles out of that color. Keep the circle the same diameter as you did the felt circles. You will need to cut A LOT of circles. I would say at least forty. *But it totally depends on how full you want your flowers, etc. If you need more, you can always cut more circles. If you need less, you can use the extra to make another flower and use it as a cute brooch!*
Then you take a fabric circle and fold it in half and then in quarters...it should turn out looking like a little piece of pie.
Piece of pie! |
Put a dot of hot glue on the pointy tip of your fabric and put your first piece right in the center of the felt. *I found that bending the very tip of the pie so it was flat when gluing it helped. That way I could get it more secure on the felt since it sat flat.*
Continue this step all over the felt until you have a full flower. After I finished gluing an entire flower, I cut a few edges down so that it would be more uniform. Continue the above steps until you have as many flowers as you want.
To glue the flowers together, arrange the flowers on the extra felt until they look good to you. Then, glue the middle three down.
The arrangement |
Gluing the middle three flower down. Leave the top two flowers unglued |
*Now glue the ends of your chain to the last two unglued flowers. Be sure to glue the chain down a good amount to be sure it won't come loose or break in the future.*
A good amount of chain glued down |
*Now glue these last two flowers down on the felt to complete your arrangement*
Now that all your flowers are glued down and your chain is attached, trim the felt down so that you can't see the felt from the front.
And voilà!
You are done!
Now wear your necklace with pride and show off all your hard work! SO CUTE!
